HOPE IS GREATER THAN ANYTHING

Todays blog is about the increasing suicides among students. I was reading the newspaper today and what grabbed my attention is the news that a 16 years old student has committed suicide in Kota who was preparing for her NEET Exams. This is not a single case but over 13,000 students died by in 2021 in India at the rate of more than 35 every day, a rise of 4.5% from the 12,526 deaths in 2020 with 864 out of 10,732 suicides being due to "failure in examination" according to the latest data as per NCRB’s ADSI report 2021. The question what really arises is was it a suicide or was it a murder by the expectations of society? The fact that a 16 years old has lost all the hopes from life is something we all need to think, that as a society we are failing.  What are the factors that have made this rise in suicide rates? 1. The gap between the reality and expectations has increased because of the existence of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. We see happy faces, peop...

The story of journey and not the destination

The UPSC results are out. So many success stories are coming out from this event and every story is unique and inspiring. But out of all these, one story that grabbed my attention is a story of the person who is not an IAS yet but has secured 667 rank and is still preparing for the UPSC exam for a better rank and this years attempt will be his last attempt the 9th attempt. The story of RAM BHAJAN KUMAR, 34 years old, head constable in Delhi Police. He is a married guy and father of two daughters. While reading the story of this I was so touched and inspired that I felt like sharing it.  He has seen many economical hardships and despite of everything he wants to motivate and help people and according to him UPSC gives that platform to motivate and help people. When he got married his wife was a fifth pass, Time has passed and the best thing is she began the journey of becoming a post graduate. The kind of support and devotion this person showed towards his wife and how they both gre...

KADAMBANI GANGULY

THE FIRST FEMALE DOCTOR OF INDIA Our human society has a norm of following set patterns. We follow pattern in all of our work in all of our habits, in all of our social interactions. And one of the examples that adds to this pattern is to consider women as a weak gender. It’s not a sudden thing that has emerged today but it’s has been there since the beginning of the human society. The basic rules of the society that we follow today has emerged from a patriarchal thinking so naturally women had always been kept at a disadvantage in terms of power, in terms of empowerment. Many women in our history have tried to break this pattern by doing extreme hard work, by facing hard resistance, by overcoming the social stigma of the society and tried to make gender equality a part of this civilization. One such lady was Kadambini Ganguly, the first Women Physician of India at a time when the Indian society used to think women education as an offence. Kadambini Ganguly was born on 18 ...

HOW THE HOST CELL ACTS AGAINST SARS COV 2?

Today I am going to talk about how our body reacts to the infection of corona virus. To know how it enters the cell and hacks it to produce its own copy click here . So, let’s start: - After infecting the cells and making multiple copies, these copies moves out from the cell by exocytosis. Now when the cell gets infected the cell releases certain intermediates: - 1.The Interferon α and β which goes to the healthy alveolar cells of vicinity and this results in the release of antiviral peptides (these peptides are kind of self-defense mechanism). 2.They also release Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs are endogenous molecules that are released from damaged or dying cells and activate the innate immune system(macrophages) by interacting with pattern recognition receptors). Now these macrophages activate the inflammatory mediators (Interleukin1, interleukin 6, TNF- α ) so that they can be used to kill the virus. They also move to the pulmonary capillaries whic...
