HOPE IS GREATER THAN ANYTHING

Todays blog is about the increasing suicides among students. I was reading the newspaper today and what grabbed my attention is the news that a 16 years old student has committed suicide in Kota who was preparing for her NEET Exams. This is not a single case but over 13,000 students died by in 2021 in India at the rate of more than 35 every day, a rise of 4.5% from the 12,526 deaths in 2020 with 864 out of 10,732 suicides being due to "failure in examination" according to the latest data as per NCRB’s ADSI report 2021.
The question what really arises is was it a suicide or was it a murder by the expectations of society? The fact that a 16 years old has lost all the hopes from life is something we all need to think, that as a society we are failing.
What are the factors that have made this rise in suicide rates?

1. The gap between the reality and expectations has increased because of the existence of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. We see happy faces, people having everything at a very early age. It is very common that comparison will happen. It is very easy for anyone and especially a child to fall into the trap of having everything.

2.The lack of support system is also a major reason for this. The teenage and adolescence are the age when its time for real exploration in terms of career choices, likings and disliking, dreams. Supportive parents means they will give the freedom to the child to explore themselves. There are times the child needs someone to depend, parents should be emotionally available at those time. The sense of security in the mind give one a freedom to live.

3.The disconnect from spirituality is another reason. In this modern world we have almost forgot to involve spirituality in our life. We are only focusing only on the physical things as the parameters of happiness. We all have believe that 'I will be happy once I achieve this or achieve that.' But we generally find out that once we achieve what we want , we found a momentary happiness and if by any chance we could not achieve what we want we become so negative to ourselves. This problem can only be solved by spirituality. what are the ways to get spirituality is something which will be out of context in this discussion so we will not discuss it.

4.The lack of compassion in us is also a reason. We as humans generally find happiness in criticizing others and we love to discuss about the shortcomings and failures of others. This is something which we need take care of, to actively avoid such things. we should be compassionate about others and give them acceptance and appreciate that they are trying.

BECAUSE HOPE IS GREATER THAN ANYTHING.

Plastic Pollution: Understanding the Threat of Microplastics

Microplastics- These are the pieces of plastics that are less than 5mm in size and are present in the environment from various sources of plastics. Humans couldn’t have possibly imagined that a simple invention back in 1909, by “Leo Hendrik Baekeland” called the Bakelite (the first synthetic plastic – “phenol formaldehyde resin”), could become a threat to the environment. The commercial success of this product lead to inventions of many more plastics like LDPE, HDPE, PVC, Polystyrene etc.  After this human have accepted plastics so fast that we can easily see how dependent we have become on the plastic.  The global plastic industry in 2020 was valued at 580-billion-dollar industry. Plastics are now everywhere and in every industry. Why is plastic becoming a problem to us? There are many perspectives to this, but I will discuss 3 of them.        The non-biodegradable nature of the plastic.        Accumulation of microplastics in foo...

The UPSC results are out. So many success stories are coming out from this event and every story is unique and inspiring. But out of all these, one story that grabbed my attention is a story of the person who is not an IAS yet but has secured 667 rank and is still preparing for the UPSC exam for a better rank and this years attempt will be his last attempt the 9th attempt. The story of RAM BHAJAN KUMAR, 34 years old, head constable in Delhi Police. He is a married guy and father of two daughters. While reading the story of this I was so touched and inspired that I felt like sharing it.  He has seen many economical hardships and despite of everything he wants to motivate and help people and according to him UPSC gives that platform to motivate and help people. When he got married his wife was a fifth pass, Time has passed and the best thing is she began the journey of becoming a post graduate. The kind of support and devotion this person showed towards his wife and how they both gre...
